What is your biggest challenge in the role?
It is a complex challenge to build new businesses and innovations to begin with, to secure financing, team, customers and production, but maybe the biggest challenge is to get everything going at the same time with an accelerated pace.
What's most fun about your role?

Karl Xavier - Partner and Head of Investments at Axilium Holding AB
What is your background?
I’ve been investing money for the last 25+ years of which the last 6 years have been in the start-up space. My background is business and finance and my role on the various boards I sit on is mainly business strategy related. I started Axilium Holding AB together with a partner in 2018 to concentrate 100% on start-up investments.
What are you working on?
For the part 12 months we have focused heavily on Life Science investments, which have held up well in this current environment. Going forward we will be shifting our focus back towards technology companies.
What is your biggest challenge in the role?
The holy grail in start-up investing is identifying those buds that will develop into beautiful flowers – or Unicorns. It really isn’t enough just to have a good idea, the people behind the company need to have the drive and vision to do the impossible and turn that great idea into a reality. Identifying these people with that potential long before they’ve succeeded is the biggest challenge for a startup investor.
What's most fun about your role?
This sort of role means you get to work with brilliant people across a broad range of industries. This is not only inspiring and rewarding, but also a whole lot of fun. We see our portfolio companies as part of the family, and we take great pleasure in joining them on such an exciting journey.

Ellen Trelles - Founder at Total Teacher
Ellen's background is primary education with a focus on international education and language acquisition. She has over 10 years experience working with curriculum and teachers in international schools in Sweden and the United States.
I am currently working on testing and development of the Total Teacher tool which facilitates and brings together the work between principals and teachers. The biggest challenge in my role at Total Teacher is to balance the creative side of developing a product with being a first time business owner. I really enjoying sharing the product with prospective customers and hearing their feedback-it is so rewarding to hear them say, "Yes what you are doing with Total Teacher could help me a lot!"

Marie Bredberg - Investment Manager Biner Startup Partner
What is your background?
I was born in Germany on an American Army Base and lived there until I was four years old. At the age of four, we moved to the United States, and I lived there for the next 20 years. 9 years ago, I moved to Sweden as a result of the war in Libya in 2011. I have never left. My great grandparents were from Sweden, so in a very familiar way, living here feels like coming home!
I have lived and worked professionally in many parts of the world since the age of 24, the United States, India, Sri Lanka, Libya and Sweden. I have my Masters in Business Administration with a focus on Economics, namely Economic and Business Development. Currently I work both as a Management Consultant and Investment Manager, as well as moderate/present on topics related to my professional area.
What are you working on?
Currently I am working on finding innovative Startups within software development and digitalization. In addition to that, I work closely with those Startups to develop their ideas and concepts while considering the market and business plan, in order to achieve value and growth.
What is your biggest challenge in the role?
The biggest challenge in this role is helping Startups hold their users tightly and their original solution lightly. Basically, hold the problem tightly, hold the customers tightly, but hold the solution loosely.
What's most fun about your role?
Seeing the pure joy in the founders that comes with seeing the first prototype of their idea/concept.
